The Alumni Chapter Program

Purpose
Over the past several years, we have established Alumni Chapters wherever there are significant numbers of alumni residing. The purpose of these chapters and of hosting alumni events outside of the San Francisco Bay Area, is 1) to promote and maintain interest in St. Ignatius, 2) provide a communal network for alumni living in a particular area, and 3) to keep our graduates informed about happenings at the school.

Active Chapters

Los Angeles/ Southern California
The Southern California Chapter has been active since 1991 and was founded by Bob Smith ('32), who passed away in 2002. The SoCal group meets for lunch once a year, usually in April or May. The past several luncheons have been held at the Annandale Golf and Country Club in Pasadena and are now graciously hosted by Bob's son, Mike Smith, a graduate of Loyola High in Los Angeles.

Phoenix
Our alums in the Phoenix area met every other year for a November luncheon, most recently held at Vince's Restaurant in Phoenix. The chapter was founded by Steve Howell ('61).

Portland, OR/Northwest
The Portland Chapter was founded by George Alvergue ('52) and has met annually for the last ten years. The group is hosted for dinner by Mike Cronin ('63) who operates Serrato's Restaurant in downtown Portland.

Others
Over the years we have had gatherings in Washington, DC, Seattle, and San Diego.
