Ignatian Spirituality at SI

Jesuit spirituality is rooted in the Spiritual Exercises, a guide for retreat directors written by St. Ignatius Loyola. At SI, students, faculty, staff, priests and brothers all learn to pray the Ignatian way through programs offered by the Adult Spirituality and Campus Ministry offices and through the courses taught by the Religious Studies Department. Integral to spirituality is the Christian Service department which links students with opportunities for service.

This common wellspring of prayer unites all Jesuit schools — from primary schools in Latin America to universities in Europe. It also inspires us to a “faith that does justice.” Jesuits try to act as “contemplatives in action” and hope to inspire their students to work in service to the poor and oppressed just as Christ did.

You can learn more about Ignatian prayer at the US Jesuit Conference Web Site.

You can practice daily Ignatian prayer through this Irish Jesuit web site.
